Each feature below uses only what it needs, and only when you use it.

Voice search

Your player and your home network

When you tap the mic (or press the mic on the TV with Speakremote Bridge), the app uses your phone's built-in speech recognition to turn your words into text. That is Google's speech service on most Android phones and Apple's on iPhone. They may process the audio on their servers under their own privacy policies. Speakremote never records or stores audio. The microphone is only used while you are searching.

The app finds your media player on your Wi-Fi and talks to it directly over your local network: the text you search for, remote buttons, what is playing, and your library's titles and posters. During subtitle setup it also talks to Nuvio's "Manage from phone" page on the player. Wake-on-LAN sends a wake-up packet on your network. None of this leaves your home network. On iPhone this is why the app asks for Local Network access.

Stored on your phone only

Trakt (optional)

Your chosen player, your settings, recent searches, your "To watch" list, the routes you recorded to apps' search boxes, pinned apps, and subtitles you saved for later. They stay on the phone and are deleted when you uninstall the app. Recent searches can be cleared in Settings.

If you connect your Trakt account, the app keeps Trakt's sign-in tokens on your phone and talks to Trakt directly to read your watchlist, add and remove titles, and look titles up. We never see your Trakt account or tokens. Trakt's privacy policy applies to what you store there. Disconnect in Settings to remove the tokens from the phone.

IMDb links

Phone calls (optional)

When you share a bare IMDb link with the app, it asks IMDb's public suggestion service for the title of that IMDb id. Only the id is sent.

If you turn on "Pause the TV during calls", the app is told when a call starts and ends so it can pause and resume the player. On Android this needs the phone permission. The app never sees phone numbers or who is calling, and stores nothing about calls.

Notifications (Android, optional)

Subtitles

The remote in the notification shade is shown only if you turn it on. It contains no personal data.

Subtitle files you open in Speakremote are read on the phone and sent only to Speakremote Bridge on your player, which hands them to Nuvio on the same player.

What we don't do

Speakremote Bridge

The bridge only listens on your local network while an app on the player is waiting for voice input, or while its subtitle add-on is on (it switches itself off after a while). It receives the words you said and the subtitles you sent, and keeps subtitles in memory only until they are no longer needed.

• We don't collect, sell or share personal data. There is no server of ours that the apps talk to.

• No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.

To help with problems, it keeps a short list of its most recent events on the player. It has the microphone permission because Android requires it of voice input services, but it never records anything.

• No location: the app only reads your phone's own Wi-Fi address to find the player.

Speakremote is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Your data in the app is under your control on your own devices. For any question about privacy, write to support@dalipisdigital.tech. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
